Our Role as a Notary

The central value of notarization lies in the Notary Public's ability to be impartial while screening the signer for identity, willingness and awareness.  Meaning you must be cognizant neurologically in order for your document transaction to be processed.  Our screening process detects and deters document fraud, and helps to protect the personal rights and property of private citizens.   

There are times that we have to swear individuals in.   Sometimes it is done in person and other times we can execute the swearing in via telephone with a Judge present on the line.   We also have the honor to swear graduate lawyers into office by swearing them in.  The law graduate actually have to repeat an oath given to them by the notary public.   An oath is referred to as a Jurat.   Oath and jurat are used interchangeably.   Giving an oath is a crucial element of our duties and should not be taken lightly, neither can the notary public ignore this process.   In addition,  carrying out our duties effectively decreases the load on our court system.
